Years of worshiping the sun can lead to age spots and a rough, uneven skin texture. If you spent too much time tanning when you were younger, an intense pulsed light, or IPL, photofacial by the aesthetic experts at Hanami Medspa, a premier medspa in Fort Worth, Texas, can reverse the signs of aging. Intense pulsed light photofacials can dramatically improve the tone, texture and pigment of your skin with noninvasive treatments. When you’re ready to restore your skin from sun damage, call Hanami Medspa to schedule a consultation or use the online booking system.
IPL Photofacial
What is an IPL photofacial?
An IPL photofacial uses short bursts of intense pulsed light to safely target and break up age spots and other areas of irregular pigmentation. The medical aesthetics team at Hanami Medspa use the state-of-the-art Stellar M22 by Lumenis technology to treat your skin safely and effectively.
This advanced IPL system provides a quick treatment session, minimum downtime, and a comfortable built-in cooling system to keep the surface of your skin cool during treatment. The IPL photofacial energy penetrates the tissue below the surface of your skin while leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed.
What skin problems does an IPL photofacial address?
An IPL photofacial improves the appearance of common skin problems, including:
- Sun damage
- Rosacea
- Hyperpigmentation
- Spider veins
- Brown spots
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Enlarge pores
- Rough, uneven skin tone
The Lumenis M22 system can treat your face, hands, arms, chest, and shoulders, so you feel more confident in the appearance of your skin even after years of sun exposure.
How many IPL treatments will I need?
Most men and women notice a visible improvement in sun-damaged skin and less visible dark spots and wrinkles after 3-6 IPL treatments. Dr. Phuah, the board-certified physician who oversees all aesthetic procedures at Hanami Medspa, customizes an IPL photofacial treatment plan based on your individual skin condition and desired outcome. You can receive each IPL photofacial about 4 weeks apart, making this a convenient way to rejuvenate your skin in just a matter of weeks.
For longer-lasting results after a series of IPL photofacial treatments, the team at Hanami Medspa recommends protecting your skin from the sun. They offer high-quality skin care products by Alastin or Hanami Proskincare and can recommend a moisturizer that protects your rejuvenated skin from additional sun damage. You may also want to get a touch-up IPL photofacial every 3-6 months to keep your desired results.
What does an IPL photofacial feel like?
Most adults easily tolerate an IPL photofacial, describing the sensation as feeling like the quick snap of a rubber band. Since the Lumenis M22 system incorporates cooling technology, it isn’t usually painful. If at anytime you feel uncomfortable, your provider can adjust the treatment accordingly.
Afterward, your skin may be slightly warm, like a mild sunburn. This usually subsides within 24 hours after your appointment. There’s minimum downtime and you’re free to return to your daily activities immediately following. You may have darkening of some pigment on the skin which flakes off after 1-2 weeks. You may have bruising of the skin caused by targeted treatment of the broken capillaries which fade over time.
Great skin starts with a personalized skin care consultation with Dr. Phuah. Schedule yours today by calling the office or booking online.
